Default No heat! and it's cold here in the Northeast.

Got in my A8(97) the other day(12degF) and was driving along and noticed that it was still very cold in the car, and no heat was coming out of any of the vents. All the bars were lit up on the fan indicator, but no heat. After about 40 minutes of no heat, I'm sitting in a parking lot with the car running waiting for my wife to come out of the store she was in(I was only waiting there about 15 min idling), I started playing with the climate control buttons and the heat eventually came on, and was fine the rest of the day on our trip. That was Sunday, since then, no heat. From what I have read from searching, sounds like the fresh air blower motor. Could this be the case? Thanks.

Default Check your coolant level.

Had a similar problem. With mine, the system would alternate from heating to a cold defrost setting then eventually just cold air. Turned out that the coolant level had fallen a lot. When filled back to an appropriate level, the system worked fine.

Default If it is that, you might need to bleed it to get the air out of the part of the system going

to/from the heater cores.

what did the coolant temp. guage read? Doubt it's the blower, you'd hear it not working.

Default In a water cooled auto, if you have no heat blowing it's normally ...

... that the coolant level is so dangerously low that it does not even rise up enough to make it to the heater core.
