Default 16" wheels are actually best for fast A8 cornering on stock suspension

Look for function not fashion. Test for results.

18" tires don't have enough sidewall height to keep the tread fully on the road when the body and wheels lean in corners. I've tried both and sold my 18" wheels.

That sports cars with minimal suspension travel benefit from low profile tires doesn't make them appropriate for softly sprung cars. More details in an old thread in this forum.

Default Could you describe the noise a bit more? A front differential could possibly be to blame but

you would probably see some tranny fault codes if that was the case.

Default Formula One still uses 13" wheels. Actually, ...

The A8/S8 suspension does a fairly good job keeping the outside tire upright during hard cornering.

As you can see, even with extreme body roll and the outside tires handling 80% of Cornering Loads, you couldn't ask for much better performance from the outside tires. Even with the heavy body roll, they remain nicely upright. There is a problem, but it's only with the inside front tire. The A8/S8 has only ~4 degrees of caster, 8-10 deg would eliminate much of the tire rolling in the wrong direction during body roll; but unfortunately, caster isn't adjustable.

These are obviously S8 pics (with 20" wheels). The softer sprung A8 would roll more, but the outside tire would remain upright. The inside tire, however, would look worse. :-(

That doesn't make these particular rims look less like hubcaps.

Default I emailed K-pac re caster adjustment.:

- Re my 2002 Audi A8L: caster is about 1.7 deg and 1.3 deg. All other alignment parameters are good. Should I use your # 140916 H kit to add caster?

How many degrees of caster will it let me add?

Any downsides to adding the kit?

Any possible corrosion issues with aluminum suspension parts?

Thank you for your reply.

- A8 series we currently do not manufacture a kit.

They have same basic front top arm style suspension and
envisage will be 2/3 months before we manufacture a kit.

Regards
Kevin
