oem tire question
oem tires on my 2000 a8 are the notoriously lame eagle LS, but i know conti also came with our model a8, am contemplating a switch. gotta cover the spare too, so it's a 5 tire switch.
anyone remember which model of continental tire came with the d2 model audi? my guess is ContiPremierContact
the other option i'm considering is ditching both and trying out Dunlop's SP Sport A2 Plus. anyone have experience with those?
thanks everyobe

There are many other brands/types of tires out there that are outstanding in performance over OEM
choice. I'm sure many will chime in with their set up.
If you want performance, I have Bridgestone REO50s, and no complaints.
I'm not saying Contis are bad tires, just that there are more cost effective ways out there.

Re: oem tire question
I have some sort of Continentals bought with new OEM rims removed from a 2006 A6 4.2 they're extremely quiet and perform very well, if you want I could be more specific when I'm back to US from my European business trip, after the 4th of July.

thanks everyone, i went with Sumitomo HTR H4 225/55 HR 17
just $77 and they claim to be high performance all season. needed 5 tires since the spare was getting replaced too. some day i'll switch to the 18 inch S8 wheel/tire set up.
will report back in a few thousand miles on the Sumitomo's. glad to be rid of the eagle LS set

Sumitomo HTR H4 225/55 HR 17. Me too.....
I bought the same tires in May and have about 2k on them. They are very quiet, but more squirmy especially noticeable at the rear end.
They are very nice at high speeds although I haven't had them over 110 MPH.
The H-rating matches well with the NA 130MPH cutoff.
So far seem to be a very good value if you are not too particular about at-the-edge handling. (With a weak tranny I don't do much of that yet :-)
