My mechanic has a black '77 911S w/ sunroof, camel interior, that he just put a new tranny, new clutch, new brakes, and a short shift kit in. He built the engine up from a fresh block 25K ago. He's the guy everyone in my town with a very nice Porsche, Audi, Benz, or Beemer goes to; I've sung his praises here before.
I drove it today, very tight. It's the 2.7 engine so it only makes 180-190 hp, but hey, some of us are on a budget, and it's only $11K, and isn't the A8/911 everyone's dream garage? Buy a 3.2 down the road someday out of a wreck, put the $350 24mm torsion bars on and lower it a tad in the rear, and you've got a very fun car cheap.
No commission for me, just thought I'd mention it to fellow enthusiasts in case anyone's in the mood. He does great work, so it will stay together. The body's pretty clean, a respray, Fuchs 15" wheels with Michelin something-or-other 205s.
