I have found numerous useful tutorials at "the Luminous Landscape" website. Here's their take on red-eye.

Luminous Landscape and Red-Eye

Zoom in to the red eye. Select the entire pupil using the lasso tool.....
-go into Image/Adjust/Hue-saturation
-select red from drop down menu
-slide saturation bar full left, OK
-select magenta from drop down menu
-slide saturation bar full left, OK
-go into Image/Brightness-contrast and adjust to make look natural.
Repeat for second eye.
