Oil breather pipes
Hi guys (and girls?),
Ive got this S8 D2 from 97, where at least one of the rear oil breather pipes has turned to gum and then it got a hole in it.
Which results in nice oil fumes inside and outside the car.. yummy....
Ive searched EVERYWHERE and cant find the pipes for sale anymore, and Audi says they have been discontinued
Have any of you had the same problem, and how did you solve it?
Thanks
/Kim

There are two possibilities: You can email to tradition.shop@audi.de and ask for a new production of the breather hose you need, mentioning the part number. You could also ask if they are able to use a better rubber type like AEM that is better suitable for the high temperature environment than the old ECO. If they think there is enough demand, they might start selling the part on trshop.audi.de. But that will likely take several months.
The other way would be building your own temperature and oil resistant hose, for example with Cohline 2733.1654 (AEM) and a right angle adapter.

https://www.hydraulikschlauch24.de/N...N16::2306.html
The online shop above only ships to countries in the EU.
I have not built such a hose myself so far, so I'd recommend taking measurements before ordering anything.

Someone used 3rd-party hoses like this (2 pictures):
quattroworld.com Forums: Do all 3 breather hoses for about $15.00. (Some nipple talk)
I'd still go for AEM aramid reinforced hoses and metal connectors and metal clamps though. Everything else (like heater hoses or PVC) will deteriorate very fast and should not be used.

Hey Johnnya,
Thanks for your replys.
I didnt know about Tradition Shop, that a nice service.
As far as i can see, its only been 1½ years since they stopped making the hoses. But all 3 4.2l D2's ive had, have had this issue (from Barcelona/Barcelona/Köln), so it has to be a general problem.
But yeah.. it looks like i have to make one myself from some oil/gasoline resistant material, or have a hose made, by a specialist.
Thanks

Breather hose 077103221D
Just for your information:
One of the rear "Audi chewing gum hoses" no. 077103221D is available in the Audi Tradition Shop again:
http://trshop.audi.de/konakart/Selec...o?prodId=61879
As an alternative for the front breather hose no. 077103221E it's also possible to use the cheaper and better hose 077103221L of the facelift model, which is aramide reinforced.
https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a8.../1/103-103097/
I installed it on my 1997 ABZ engine without any issues using screw hose clamps.

And finally i got the hose.. and what a letdown...
I got tired of waiting and went to my local dealer, 2 weeks later the hose arrived from Germany.
I didnt have to pay any surcharge to order through the dealer, so that was a plus.
But the hose was not as expected.. well, it fit.. but didnt have the special twist locking system. Just a normal hose with grooves inside.
I could just as well have ordered a L-shaped hose somewhere else, and put it on, instead of spending 85€.
All i have to do now is to clean up the mess the broken hose have made, as good as i can.. maaaan there is not alot of space there

Is there any information printed on the new hose saying whether it is "AEM" or the old "ECO" type rubber?
As soon as the hoses I replaced in 2015 will fail again, I will try to use something different. I have doubts that rubber will withstand the temperature in the area long enough where the hose (almost) touches the engine. My idea is using:

with

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Stainless-St...r/282785681842 (1/2" BSP to 18 mm)
https://www.ebay.de/itm/Stainless-St...m/172662652657 (16mm to 22mm as connection to the rubber part in front of the throttle body)
using high temperature oil resistant sealing washers

and high temperature oil hose to connect the ends
