Oil leak while jacking
Hello all!
I’m new here. Just got a 2001 Audi A8L V8 4.2l. Everything functions as normal, however the is a slight vibration whilst driving. Nothing very intense, just enough for me to notice. Thinking I might check the CV boots and joints because they seem to be a common problem, I jacked up the car to check them. I did the passenger side first.
At about three fourths of the jacks travel(stock Audi jack), the car began leaking oil. It seemed to leak from the engine at an alarming rate. Around a drop every 2 seconds. It dripped directly inboard of the right tire. I quickly lowered the car and it stopped. I tried to replicate the problem on the drivers side, but to no avail. Once again I tried the passenger side and the problem persisted. The car has no overheating problems and the engine runs smooth, it doesn’t drip oil anywhere I park, even on a slope or side hill. I don’t know guys, help? 😂Thank you!

Do you still have the engine belly pan/ plastic cover? Do you do your own oil changes? If you say it's leaking just inboard of the front right tire, there are not any oil lines that run down that side of the car if I recall correctly. A leaking valve cover gasket could be allowing oil to pool somewhere and by jacking the car is just allowing the pooled oil to drain.
