Default Ok...bit the bullet...transmission being torn down

Found a shop in Royal Oak Michigan and they seem very Audi knowledgable are a Bosch shop and have a Vag Com. They are called Autohaus. Test drove trans and tried to pull codes and got none, so next step is tear down and inspection. Should know Tuesday the extent of the damage and a cost. Been ball parked about 3k for rebuilding including the R & R.He spoke to me abit about upshifting problem that most of you seem to have (I didn't. Lost reverse) and said his techs have worked with Audi and found that a change to the front pump was either required or done aftermarket and seems to solve the problem. I will keep you posted as to my experience both good or bad. This may be the guy most of us have been seeking though.

Default Piston seal for clutch F said to be troublesome in 5HP24s made in 1999 and 2000

So said a repair data service for transmission rebuilders. They were talking about RWD 5HP24s. My 2001, made in 11/2000, had that problem.

Clutch F engages reverse and engine braking in first.
