OT: Anybody know WTF stations are cutting off the pumps at $75?
I'm "prepaying" with a CC so why do they care if I put in $85? I got so twisted up after seeing 4 people in line at the cashier when I wanted to top off that I roared off and forgot my gas cap. Yeah stoopid me I know but WTF?

Depends on time of the day, i filled at like 2 in the morning it only gave me $50 worth
The guy behind he counter said it was for security reasons, I think he didn't know either.

Yeah, it was like that at the station by my house.
At first it was $50, then $75. They finally cut it out. And this was using the CC to prepay mind you. You're right, if you're prepaying with a CC, why the limit? I can see it with the debit card...

Just got back from North Carolina this evening. A gas station there had the sign posted:
With GO GAS Card: $500 limit
With Amex: $100
Debit w/PIN: $100
Discover: $75.00
MasterCard: $50.00
Visa: $50.00
The first time I'd seen it. I did think it was odd, but I guess it's a precursor of things to come?
