Parking Assist Volume too high
Still coming to terms with my "new" 2000 A8. Manual says something about 'dealer can adjust the volume of the parking assist'. Is this some secret key combination or what?
It's driving me nuts right now.

You can adjust the volume and pitch with a VAG-COM . . .
which is <i>de rigueur</i> with a used A8. Click on the links below for more info.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/106829.phtml">Info on tweaking Parktronic (from A6 forum). . .</a></li></ul>

No problem; if your dealer won't do it for free, check this list.
You can probably find someone near you who'll let you try out a VAG-COM before you buy one.<ul><li><a href="http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl">VAG-COM owner database</a></li></ul>

Thanks, I checked that out. Looks like around $230. I need to stack up a few more reasons to buy it. For $230 even the dealer can do it cheaper :-)

Well I will tell you this....VAG COM has saved me this past weekend.
I was on the PA turnpike on the way back from visiting my folks. I stopped at a rest stop and while manuevering in the parking lot, for some reason I jammed the gear really fast from reverse to drive and it went into limp mode. I guess going too fast gave an error and there I was, only one gear to go home. BUT....thank goodness I had taken my laptop with my VAG cable with me. So I fired it up, cleared the code, and I was on my way again. If I hadn't had it available to me, I would have been flat bedding it or driving in limpmode for a good 150 miles. So in my case it worked out to be a great investment. If you plan on having your car longterm, you will want it for all the little "fits" that your car will indefinitely have.
