PaulW - swaybar question.
I note in ETKA there are *three* (3) swaybars listed. Diameters of 14mm, 17.3mm, and 20 mm.
Were you aware of this? Did you try to order a 20mm? Should I?
The ETKA description is "stabilizer for vehicles with sports-type running gear". Change the suffix to "L", is the only change.
Oh, and I just ran downstairs, pulled out the calipers, and checked, though I hardly needed the calipers after eyeballing that spindly little thing. Definitely a 14mm bar on my car.

Yes, this was posted before.....
....when I called the dealer, I just ordered the S8 bar....but you should find out if you can get the 20 mm bar! Post if you can, would love to know. Maybe somebody will want my 17.4 mm bar!

Read this thread

Yes, but ...
it is possible to over do a good thing.
Going from 14mm to 17.3mm with an A8 or 17.3mm to 20mm with an S8 are both relatively modest changes. The springs of an H&R suspension (and perhaps the S8 suspension) are probably chosen to reduce understeer, and a stiffer rear bar will reduce it further, but not enough to cause problems. Going from 14mm to 20mm may go over the edge and cause oversteer ... I need to do some calculations.

I would like to come as close to neutral as possible..
Since i have the larger tires and stock suspension i figure i would need the stiffer swaybar to compensate for the lack of H&R's... but your the expert! so i will await your reply..
thanks again

Paul -- more sway bar questions.....
If you can you get some dimensions from your original 14mm bar, I'll calculate the spring rates in lb/in. I need ...
1. The effective bar length, measured from end-to-end to where the links attach.
2. The effective lever arm length, measured at a 90o angle from an end link to the main body of the bar (as if the bar was longer and the lever arms weren't angled).
3. The thickness of the tubing used with these hollow bars.
Do you think the 14mm and 17.3mm bars have the same wall thickness?
With our Formula Continental, we find that a 25 lb/in change in spring rates at one end of the car is very noticeably, a 100 lb/in change is huge.

I could just bring my old bar to Mid Ohio and give it to you
You can cut it apart and do whatever you want with it....it's at my buddies house right now so I won't get back there for a while, until I change my brake pads for Mid Ohio.
