You can get a modern ipod/iphone interface ...
... which simply plugs into the back of your radio where the CD changer normally connects.
Then you use the radio or steering wheel to control the ipod.
So who needs a phatbox .. old tech 8)
I want to try one of these soon .. it has an aux jack for sat radio too .. awesome.
I know AudiWorld hates links to non-advertisers .. so google Neo Prolink. $199 on the manufacturer's site but a lot cheaper at retail outlets.

I'll think about it when I can get a 250 GB I-pod that I can change the battery and hard drive in...
myself instead of throwing it away and buying a new one. Hard to beat my 250GB PhatBox for sheer choice in musical entertainment.

So Assume that you did the HD swap.
I have been contemplating this. Is it straight forward? Just follow the directions on the web.
Im not sure that I have 250 GB of music just yet thats pretty impressive. On the downside how long does it take you to browse through.
When I first loaded mine I tried to keep it under 100 artists.

Yes, did the HD swap. Use the SW on Phathack.com. I usually play music random by genre.....
unless I really want to listen to something specific. I have created several unique genres for my music collection, so I can compartmentalize the music fairly well. I am using FLAC (lossless compression) files, so it really isn't THAT much music ;-) The sound quality is awesome, however.

I'll keep my Phatnoise anyday over my iPod....
The sheer control of being able to traverse through your collection by Artist, Playlist, Album etc.. all with the push of a button and listening to your selections via voice over the raido is AWESOME, much easier to get around in while traveling down the road at speed.

I suppose that from my own point of view ...
... keeping my iPhone charged and not having to carry phone+ipod is my thought on this matter.
Having an iPhone makes this a no-brainer for me.
