Witnessed a failure.

Docmusolf Nearly Lost a Hand at the Quattro Club's Grattan event. I haven't used the Audi jack since that weekend and now carry a floor jack in the trunk. The Death by Jack thread discusses three other incidents. Searches in the other forums would undoubtedly find many others.

The Four Amigos at Grattan. Note that the paddock area where the jack failure occurred is very flat.

Failed how? Actually BROKE? or the car fell over due to misuse of the emergency jack?

I've used them over the last, oh 16 years or so here and there, NEVER had a problem. Granted, you have to be careful, but I've never had a car fall off of one.

Also keep in mind, the Audi jack is designed for emergency tire changes ONLY, any other use of it is just pure stupidity.

Dr.Duct_Mossburg 11-14-2006 03:10 PM

i really had no one to blame except for myself, i should of known better

Dr.Duct_Mossburg 11-14-2006 03:11 PM

p.s. try getting a car back off the ground, with only a spare, and a broken jack..

all while having a broken foot.
