Radio code input procedure

Radio code input procedure
I have the code for my radio but not the sequence of steps to input it. Display shows "safe." Dealer said you need to press two buttons before entering code, but claimed he didn't know which (said varies by radio type, though I suspect more so wants me to bring it in and charge me). Anyone know the steps/which buttons? Note; pressing the "3" doesn't change the display from safe to code.

Find your radio here and choose the "programming guide" for it
