Radio unLock Code wont work - '97 A8 Delta CC radio
'97 A8 with the Delta CC radio
Well after a friend browed my A8 this weekend and he asked, "How come a $70k car doesn't have automatic lights?"
I ask why, and he goes on about how he killed the batt and the radio is safe now!!!
I have the original radio book with the code, but it doesn't work.
I thought maybe the radio had been replaced, but after pulling it out the serial number matched what was in the book.
So after a week with no radio I'm about to go crazy! Tried the right number 4-6 times, 0000 1000 9999 and a few others (been doing a lot of driving!)
The local dealer said they would have to put it on the diag machine to unlock it and that dosent sound cheap!
Anyone know why the unlock code will not work?
Or have any other sujestions to try before I got drop some coin?
Thanks
Britt

It should work
First off, the Delta CC radio cannot be logged into with a diagnostic machine, only the concerts and later could do that, there is no K line connected.
Is it in SAFE? If so, I think you only have a few tries, then you must leave the key in the ignition for at least an hour before you can try it again. If it's like my Nav Plus system, you don't have to have the ignition on, just the key in the ignition.

It Dont Work!
I know how to enter the code and such.
I know how to leave it on for an hour.
I appreciate the link (been there all ready)
It still dosen't work!
I dont know what more to try other than putting it on my 12V source in the house and trying the 9999 other possible codes over the next 5000 hours of my life (hey that would only take me 209 days!)

my wifes volvo did the same thing this weekend.
for some reason the code would not take.. the dealer was able to pull the radio and recode it. I was not there my wife took it. So I have no other details then that.

Re: It Dont Work!
Mine did that too. The code in the manual wouldnt work. Had to pull the unit, take it to the dealer so they could read the serial number and give me the code. Which was different than the one in the owners manual. Go figure.

where can I get one and how much can i expect to pay?
I do like the stock look .
Also depending on how much this ends up looking like its going to cost I might look at one of the new aftermarket radios that will control my Ipod directly. How hard will it be to get the radio to look good in the dash? Any one done this, I wonder if Crutchfield has a really good trim plate

I dunno for sure, I think some others who have had the conversion might chime in. Aftermarket...
only if they made them without those damn christmas light facias! It seems that brighter the buttons and displays are, the "better" they have become.

I have some brand-new Delta CC's (with the 220mm front) still lying around the warehouse from the olden days.
I'l sell them, dunno what else to do with them.
If interested: drop me an email to "steven @ sezaro . com"
(these spaces are to fool spambots looking for email-adresses in forums etc.)
