Default recoded the tranny from 0011 to 0001 wow big diff

the shift points are much higher in code 00011 the shipt points for avg around town driving was around 1700-1800 rpm, in code 0001 the shift points seem to be around 2000-2200. also does not go into 5th when in D around town unless above approx 45mph. which is very nice. another good point downshift from 5-4th gear seem to happen quicker and keeps the car in 4th under 40-42-mph. I like that like other say it should be much easier on the tranny. As many of you already know my tranny and TC were rebuilt and I now have a perfect tranny no thumping, hunting etc. just like new again. But in code 00011 the car just seems sluggish because when in d it would go to 5th gear and stay there unless I was under 35mph or so. also the acceleration (under normal around town driving not flooring it) seemed sluggish because is shifted at a much lower rpm. thanks again to the guys on here who gave the tip on the code 0001. I forget who that was sorry.. But highly recommend it to anyone who has not tried it. before this I was using tip shifting or keeping the car in 4th around town in auto mode. But like I said the shift points where much too low in auto mode

Default We'll see what it's like in two weeks

After the program learns again...I bet it will be the same. You just reset the TCU.

Default i've changed from 00011 to 00001

I too had noticed everything you wrote about. I just don't remember if the tcu learns its bad habits or not. The rebuild is going strong still - I have just over 16k since the overhaul.

Default Re: i've changed from 00011 to 00001

I will also recode this weekend, I am def.regretting the whole "00011" buzz on our forum back in 2003.

Default Different TCU part number on 1997s which prefer 00001?

On a friend's 1997, 00011 did little to no good but 00001 made a noticeable difference. People report the opposite with some other 1997 and all 1998-1999 cars.

So I wonder if there is something visible in VAG-COM which can be used to predict whether a 1997 will work better with 00001 or 00011. A different TCU part number or some other revision number?

Default Ive been running 00001 for four months on my 96 and it is still

responsive and quickly jumps to aggresive mode when I do as my handbook says and stab the throttle just the once.
It then stays in that mode until I choose to back things off again.
Much nicer code and I think there may be something in the above post by ttuling

Default that makes sense, when I coded 00011 over 1.5 yrs ago I noticed no diff

but I sure do now. I never noticed a diff even after the tcu was cleared until I went to 00001. now it is like a new car with much more responsive
shifting and acceleration.. seems like 00011 was bogging things down

Default So has anyone with a 97 used 00012? I was going to use this code

after I got the tran rebuilt, which I just did, and Id like to recode since I dont like having to put the car in 3rd while im driving around town, I'd rather just have a car that stays in about 2000rpm. So what code should I use?

Quick Reply: recoded the tranny from 0011 to 0001 wow big diff
