Default Replacement all-season tires

Not much info (that I could find) regarding all-season tires, so I'll put this to the forum. I'm in search of good stock size all-seasons for my '01 S8. I live in the Boston area so I need a performance tire that can handle snow, as I'm not interested in swapping dedicated summer and winter sets back and forth.

Current Michelin Pilot Sport A/S have lasted about 20k miles over the past three years and while I have been happy with them I'm open to new ideas.

Tire Rack has the (new & improved) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for $238 each. Another option is the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S for $186, plus a $50 rebate when buying four. Or the Pirelli PZero Nero M/S for for $185, though it didn't review as well.

I realize the Michelins tested the best, though I'm not sure they're worth a 37% premium over the Goodyears.

Any insight would be appreciated!<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&amp;url=%2Ftires%2Ftests%2FtestDisplay .jsp%3Fttid%3D115">Tire test results</a></li></ul>

I just got the Eagle F1s. No complaints. Good in the snow and rain.

Default If you want noisy tires get Eagle F1 A/S and..

don't expect good winter performance from any A/S Z rated tire.RE Noise, yes my alignment is spot on, but after 10K they are becoming quite noisy with approx 7mm remaining tread depth. Other than noise, performance especially in the rain is exceptional. My Dunlop winters are much quieter.

Default I recently scored a set of the Pilot Sport A/S's for the S8 on closeout from tire-rack

$143/tire. I love 'em about 8 months out of the year here in Michigan. Next year I may also try to find some nice 17" oem rims and do the winter/snow tire thing.

Default Re: Replacement all-season tires

Thanks for the responses. I'm now leaning toward the Bridgestone RE960AS - the highest rated ultra high performance all season based on Tire Rack consumer surveys (sorry for sounding like a commercial!)

Of course, no all season tire will do as well as a dedicated snow but the 960 seems like a good balance of attributes. Anyone had any experience with these?<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&amp;url=%2Ftires%2Ftires.jsp%3FtireMak e%3DBridgestone%26amp%3BtireModel%3DPotenza%2BRE96 0AS%2BPole%2BPosition">RE960AS Pole Position</a></li></ul>

Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus was launched late last year with improved

performance in wet traction/handling, dry braking and highway wear. They come with a 45K mileage warranty as well. I have them on my '02 S8 and love them, must confess I work for Michelin.
