Ross tech: which one to get
Was wondering which vag com to get for 2003 s8. It said kII- USB might not work with 2003 and up and had a populated list of things the kII- USB didn't cover. Should I go with kII? Or? This was all on Ross tech.

For a long time, all I've used is their free VCDS-Lite download and a cheap Chinese eBay cable ($14). I've found it to be 100 times more useful than my $80 code reader.
It reads (and can erase) all fault codes...then I refer to Bentley....just not all "advanced" functions, but it can recode (soft coding) most modules.
I've recoded my transmission with it (sport coding w/full control of 1st gear in tip mode...MUCH better) and I've recoded my central locking to open/close windows remotely....plus I use it regularly to read and look for fault codes...including codes that don't trip the CEL (check engine light).

I recommend the HEX-USB+CAN cable. It will do everything you need on your curent and future Audi VW.
