<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/34752/w.jpg"></center><p>
Whats the point of these? Do people put them on there S4/6/8 to show thats its an S model? How about putting them where the kompressor would go on a benz? or where the vents are on an M3 just behind front fenders?

I think these are for "S" wannabes- The S cars already have distinct badges......
My preference (for stealth reasons) would be to debadge an S8 (or any S for that matter) rather than try to make a non-S look like an S. Whatever....

Wow, that's incredibly lame. I imagine the kind of person who would buy that,
<ul><li><a href="http://www.litewave.co.uk/gallery_alex_audi.htm">is the kind of person who would do something like this to a poor, unsuspecting A4</a></li></ul>

Re: S-line badges?
The "S-line" is a package sold outside of the U.S. They're akin to the "sport" package available to BMW... You know, package that makes 330i to look like M3, etc.
Anyway, there are bigger air-dams, wheels, interior bits, etc., that are available. You pay extra for them, but they're factory installed. And you get a nice little badge saying so. (The little badge, I believe, goes on towards the rear of the rear passenger door.)

equivalent to MB "Sportsline" which seems to have been replace by AMG lately
S-line is actually pretty cool - it makes available a lot of sporting options, most stylistic, on non-S models.
So if you can't afford an S, or have differing needs than what it provides, you can still have a similar sporting style.
For instance, in Europe you can buy a six speed 2.7T avant. Not an "S6", not an automatic/TIP, a manual. Then you add some S-line goodies and you have what you wanted.
I'd love to have all those options! NOTHING lame about it.
Adding just a badge with nothing to 'prop it up with' is, however, rather lame.
