hello again . The Problem is still there I have checked the positive and ground cables and fix them . but the car occasionally shuts down in the traffic and It needs several minutes to start again . could it be from the Air mass sensor or the ECU . and how can I check if the ECU is okay? I heard an Air Leak coming from the back side of the engine ,could this air leak fix resolve the problem .

Kev, according to the faults you're posting, you've got an electrical issue.

You need a good auto elec, and you need your alternator tested. Other than cost of replacement, it's a 1 hour job to remove and reinstall on a D2. I did mine recently.

If it's still stopping in traffic, I'd be suspecting the speed sensor, but it could simply be low voltage. D2's don't like low power.

Does the 'Oz' in your name refer to Australia?
There's good specialists in most cities down here, and if you're in Melbourne, I can point you in the right direction...

Hello . Thank you for your reply. no I am an Armenian living in Lebanon and I took the car to 2 specialist electrician in AUDI /VW .One told me it was from the Battery and replaced it another one told me it was from
The Speed sensor and replaced it then after posting this thread I was informed that I have to check from the Ground connection cables I check and fixed that but the problem is still there . this problem is getting old with me (LOL).im going to try again with your suggestion checking the alternator because its very logic .

Latest update regarding my longest issue in my life

Check the ground cable again for the 3rd time
replace the Crank shaft sensor 2 times
Replace battery
Replace the ignition switch
Check the Fuel pump relay

The Problem is still remaining same codes .
Where should I look next the 1 ECM 2 the Alternator ?
Any advise is well appreciated

Next time it will not start, determine exactly what is not available to make the fire.

1 - Try a puff of starting fluid, does it catch?
2 - Remove a coil and connect a spark checker, is there spark?
[A real spark checker is ideal, an inline tester is not bad]

If you have both of these, remove a spark plug. Is it wet? Does it smell like gas?

Have what you need to diagnose the problem with you at all times. I had a problem like this with one of my cars (not an Audi) and it was a bad ECU.

Cheers,
-Joel.

Hello again ,
I just want to inform you guys that my problem was finally solved . It appeared that I have a cracked Fuel pump reservoir and that cracked happened after I replaced the seal and cap that makes fuel smell when you full the tank.
so I replaced the complete reservoir with the fuel pump and voila I have been driving the car for almost 2 months and everything seems to be ok.

Nice catch Kev, well done.

Very complicated fuel pump set up on these, amazing how many issues lead back there!

latest update same issue happened again after 1 month.
But hopefully i solved this time the issue for good after 2 years of mystery . These 7 or 8 fault codes all related to electrical malfunction was from a faulty ECU relay which is located near the ECU relay 214 in the plenum chamber E-Box.

Thanks a lot for closing the loop on this. This sort of problem can be really hard to pin down.
