I'm considering buying an S8 (2008 or 09)but I do not want to have to swap summers for snows each fall and back in spring. I've been doing it for years and I'm sick of the hassle. But, as I'm in Chicago there is no way I'm making it through winter with summer performance tires. Anybody have a recommendation for an all-season that will fit the S8 stock wheels (yes, I know that they will be mediocre in all seasons, but I'm ok with that)

If I HAD to go all-season (doesn't make any sense to me on a performance vehicle), I'd go with the Nokian WRG2.

Just grab a 2nd set of wheels for winter, then you can swap wheel sets at home yourself.

I consider all-season tires to be a misnomer.

You're doing yourself (safety-wise) and the car (performance-wise) a disservice by trying to get through with one set of compromise tires. Especially with low profile wide rubber, and especially in Chicago where you have the extremes of winter and summer, you're not going to be happy in either season.

I second the notion of alternate wheel/tire set for winter or summer. Then it's low hassle, tires get less mileage, wheels get less use, etc.

By the way, if you need help finding a great S8, let me know. I find cars for people for a living, and there are over 20 on AW that got their car from me. All are very happy.

I have the original equip yokos on my S8. I wonder how they will be in NJ this winter? Dont want to spend any more on this car. spent enough. Anyone run these tires in the winter months in NJ area?
