Hello April,
The time line for the US pricing is when? Isn't it typicaly shortly after the order guides. -maybe two weeks.

We (dealers) all should get 1 car per month. Pricing comes about 1 month ahead of the cars arrival

Default S8 DEMAND ! !

I have a deposit on 1st allocation at my local dealer..is MSRP going to be the bottom line price all year long...and is there a HUGE demand for the car. Do you see them selling over MSRP here in the first 3 months...

Default S8 is a hard sell

Where is this HUGE S8 demand? Your smokin some sort of car industry marketing number -yeah.
-Do the math-
My .02 is that the S8 is going to be a difficult
sales exercise. Anyone want to make a modest bet.

There are three or four S8 purchase slots on ebay right now. Some of them are over $5000 and that is just for the right to be in line to buy the car. It seems as if there is some perceived demand. I lost interest when I found it would Tip only.

I have a deposit down and will get the first car from my dealer as well. I just put my money in a few weeks ago and am still the first in line -- this does not suggest huge demand.

Further, I've not heard pricing info, but have had no indication that a "bidding war" will get started over this model (eBay postings aside). My dealer, in fact, seemed very surprised by my unsolicited interest.

In general, I think Audi's move to bring this car to the states was first and foremost a branding issue, countering the arrival of MBZ's E55 and BMW's 400hp M5. With a new 8 due in 2002 or 2003, they're plugging the gap to stem any enthusiast defections for the next 24 months.

Bottom line is, they want this car on the road and my guess is they'll actually deal a bit after the first three or four cars sell to nuts like us.
