Should I buy this 2000 Audi A8

I was considering purchasing the Audi A8 below, but I wanted to get some opinions on whether these D2's would be a money pit or whether they were reasonably reliable. I've been lurking on a few post and it seems these cars might have some common issues such as the fuel pump, but I figured I get some opinions. The car I am considering is linked below.

That might be a very nice car and worth the asking price, but you could never sell it again for that. You can find an equivalent S8 for the same money.

If I needed a car I would consider that that 2000 A8L. Not be a bad choice, particularly at $4800 or so. You'd want to be sure the trans is not already going out and then do the TransGo valve to keep it that way. Plan on a fuel pump soon. CV boots and output shaft seals soon. Take it on a long test drive then do some stop-and-go, side streets, etc and see if the trans does anything weird.

By most people's thinking they are a money pit but if you DIY and stay ahead of stuff they are not too bad. I tell people they come with an unpaid $10K repair bill, that's why you can get a $75K car for five grand.
That bill may not come due or you might earn back some of it with your smarts and labor. But do not kid yourself that you are not on the hook for it, or that you might have to scrap the car if you cannot afford it.

You need to consider the repair costs and how you plan to maintain the car. If you are handy and resourceful, you can DIY most all the repairs for a fraction of the cost. If you are not one to do repairs yourself, be prepared to pay a shocking amount for some repairs. Regular maintenance isn't too bad like oil changes, brakes, etc. Overall, these are solid, safe and decently reliable cars. I didn't think I would like mine as much as I do.
