Small evap leak code? B4 you buy a new gas-cap...
First thing I tried was pulling off the gas cap gasket. It can be removed with longnose pliers without damage if you're careful. Clean and lube lightly with Vaseline.
Well, the code came back. So I figured the check-valve in the cap was bad. Put the cap upside down and fill it with rubbing alcohol. It seeps into the inside and can then be shaken out through the check-valve port. Repeated a couple of times. Then shake the alcohol out.
No more code and I still have my Audi gas-cap that clips onto the filler door instead of a cheap Autozone cap.

i had the same P0442 code and found it was my PURGE VALVE. I had that replaced and it went away. Also check the hoses at the rear driverside of the engine and make sure they are all connected tightly...this also threw my code after the PV was replaced. helpful hints! Thanks for the heads up jazbo123 - next time i throw that one i will try your trick! :-)
