Snow tires
Besides the speedo being off a bit, would there be a problem putting 225-45-17 on my rims for the winter (blizaks)? Currently I have 225-55-17

Aside from lowering the car ~0.75 inches, and the sidewalls being shorter when taller is preferred, no.
You want a narrow, tall tire with as much sidewall as possible. You'd be better off with a 205/60-17. I am running 205/65-16s on steel wheels.
