Default I want to become an A8 owner

Hey guys I am new here and really new to Audi all together. I was at a local Pontiac dealer the other night thinking its time for me to pick up a new decent luxury type car. I was thinking a used Chrysler actually. Then this A8 Quattro jumped out at me. I drove it and fell in love. It has the warm and cold weather packages and has 66,000 miles. They had it discount priced at $15,000. I now have them talked down to $13,000. I also found a 99 that doesn't have the warm weather package but only 44,000 miles form a one owner private party. He says $15,000 is his bottom dollar. Both cars seem to be in great comdition. Do you guys have any words of wisdom or thoughts on what these should be worth? I have spent a lot of time reading the last two days and much of that has been here. I hope to become an active member. Thanks for the help.

Default Also....

I would take the 99 A8 if it has the full size passenger mirror. The full size mirror indicates that it is a late model 99, and it seems to have less problems with the tranny. Not to mention that the 99 is 1 year newer and less miles.
Good luck!

Yup I read thrrough that audipages before I made the second test drive. Good info. Thanks for the link and thanks for the advice guys. Do you think the 99 not having the warm package i sthat big of a deal. I would like the better valu so I am willing to spend the more money but I wonder at what price does the 98 become more attractive than the 99. Do you guys think that $15,000 for the 99 sounds fair then? Thanks Again.

Default They are great values

You will have to maintain it, a 99 for 15K in pristine shape is about what it would cost. You can get them for cheaper though.

But heck, what other car can you get for 15K?

Once you have a top of the line Audi, you'll never settle for a lesser car.

Default Vanity mirror or side mirror, which?

I don't think the hot weather package adds much value - but that depends on where you live, eh?

Agreed. I love my 98 and can't imagine driving anything less!

Default I agree with PaulW...its hard to go back to those "lesser" cars after this one. It seems like you

Well I picked up the 98 after negotiating the price down. I test drove some american full sized cars then went back and drove the A8. I had to have it. Those other cars seemed like cheap tin cans and they were almost new. After driving the car for a few days I am saying that it has changed my life and I will not be able to drive a lesser car again. Even my wife who is not a car person said that when her lease is up maby she will take over this A8 and I can get a newer one. So look for me to be doing a lot lurking around here now. Thanks again for the help this board already has been.
