Default So much for KBB or NADA

Ok their estimates can be WAAAY off. For example my car. Even the lowly NADA figures are over 7K more than what I paid for my car. KBB more like 10K over what I paid.

This doesn't make sense, if the market buyers are not willing to pay XX,XXX for a 199X A8, then the KBB/NADA needs to be adjusted right away. This is bad, people can get ripped off.

NADA is very annoying. There are more options than CD, theft-recovery devices, and aluminum wheels, to alter the pricing!!!

I like to take the trade-in value and the retail value and find the mid point. That is usually a fair figure. If I sold one car a month for FULL KBB retail for the past 11 years I would have already retired...

Just my 2 pennies.

Default Dealers wouldn't like it if they put real prices in there

Than there would be no place to negotiate. Kinda like having a catlog printed with distributor prices, people paying retail would have a fit!

Their customers (dealers) wouldn't buy it if it had lowered prices in it.

Doesn't the dealer and insurance companies use the Black book?

Default Hey, it's just a very general guide. We have specialist niche cars.

My '87 3.0 Alfa isn't even shown in KBB guides - only 2.5. They show the 3.0 came in '88. Try fighting your insurance company on that designation ! Not only that, but they show values as being in the 3 to 4K range, while in real life, the only way to get one as nice as mine, is to pay 7K or more.

As the A8 ages, it is only going to get more inaccurate. Take lots of good detailed pictures of your cars. Update them yearly. Outside, interior, engine bays - all of it. Take close-ups of wheels, and undersides too, to show condition. Keep every receipt too.
