Some Nav Plus Shots - This thing is so cool!
So I did a bunch of stuff to get it in today...almost done. Will post seperately. Here's a few pictures:
Stopped at a grocery store on my way home, showed me off map in the parking lot. When I started going home (had my home address selected)....it shows you off road and points to the direction of where your destination is, the mileage is "as a crow flies" it's still calculating a route:

The Nav Plus unit also displays the same info...sorry for the bad pic:

I'm driving around in a circle in the parking lot, the arrow direction changes towards your location selected:
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/nav46.JPG">
Get back on the road, it's telling me to turn onto I-55/Joliet road and the bar graph is counting down to the turn.....
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/nav47.JPG">
Here's the Nav Plus screen....it is showing me that I'm on County Line Road (see at bottom) and the turn is onto I-55/Joliet Road (see top)....the bar graph is on the right of the screen. You can see it has a calculated distance of 15 miles per the route, and it is telling you the estimated time of arrival just above that. I didn't have the clock on the Nav unit set....but it should say 5:16 P.M. (17:16).
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/nav48.JPG">
Then I get on the highway and Nav Lady says "follow on I-55 until recieving further instructions"....she's always nice too, even if you call her a *itch! ;-)
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/nav49.JPG">
Then once you get close to your turn off point, it puts the mileage to the turn on the right....3.0 miles in this case, then it counts down:
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/nav50.JPG">
You get the idea of the center console. But while all this is going on you can display on the Nav:
1. The same thing as posted above.
2. The map of where you are, it's moving with you....or:
3. The radio stations.
In every case, the radio station is at the top of the screen and in the display...93.1 WXRT. Notice that in the Nav Plus screen at the top.
Once I got home, I drove around the block....it says "arrived at destination"....and then it just displays the street you are on....went around the block and it changed everytime I turned.....very cool!

Way to stick with it Paul!
Now you get to actually enjoy your efforts.
Couple of thoughts, questions, requests...
No doubt the centre colour screen is cool. In fact, that's the thing that keeps me thinking about Nav+. But I note that a lot of your comments above, and over the past week or so, seem to be generally directed at the functional GPS/tracking/route recalculation capabilites of the navigation system "brain". At least, moreso than the flash of the in-dash unit.
You know where I'm heading with this...
As you know, I already have the US version. It has all of the functions and displays you mention, except the moving map. I'd be interested in your objective thoughts after you get a chance to live with it a bit more -- will you find yourself relying on the small centre gauge display, or the colour screen? Will the map actually be helpful/viewable during travel? Can you zoom out on the map to preview the full calculated route? On my system, I can read the complete text-based route at any time.
In other words, will you think the centre display is "worth" $1000 (net) solely to have it, if it doesn't add that much functionality? Esp. given the loss of cassette and AM fine tuning.
I am, however, convinced that Nav+ is the way to go if someone wants navigation where it doesn't already exist, for the OEM look and gauge display integration.
No need to answer now. But I'd appreciate it if you would keep this perspective in mind over the next few days/weeks.
Regards,
Rich

whats so special about it....
Gotcha! Actually, it's mighty special... alot of work to get it to it's working condition, I assume.
Someone just posted on the A6 list a NAV Plus unit for the A6/Allroad for sale in the states... ~$800, is that worth it?
Tempting... Good work, Paul!
