So today I had to go from San Diego to Big Bear Lake for a food show. My boss was also going, and being the one with the better car (he drives a Ford Explorer that Ford would gladly pay to get off the streets in an attempt to save there reputation) I was elected to drive and he would pay for the gas. Cool, I thought, giving me an excuse to drive the A8 which my wife usually uses during the week (keeps the milage down). We met in a parking lot, and that is when it began.
He grabs his briefcase while I open the trunk, but he insists on putting it in the vehicle in case he needs it. I tell him, "Sure, just lay it behind your seat." When I get in his briefcase, which wieghs a ton and is adorned with large zippers for all those nifty compartments, is laying on the soft leather of the rear seat, Ahhhh! I reach back while talking and gently lift it and place it behind his seat on the floor. Problem solved and we hit the road.
Ten minutes into the drive, he gets on the phone and then quickly undoes his seatbelt, spins around in his seat (actually kneeling on it with shoes millimeters from the glove box) and reaches around for something he needs in his bag. When he is done, the bag is back on my seat, Arrgh! I fix the problem again. Now he is holding the phone in one hand, a notepad in the other, and a pen in the other. Wait, that is two many hands! No not the pen, as he drops it down his side of the car. Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
This went on for the entire three hour drive, to the point where I wanted to grab him by the throat and make him sit still. But he is my boss, so I just sat there nervously aware of his every movement, pen placement, shoe placement, blah blah blah...
In the end I realized you should judge a person by the way they treat there car. And if there car looks like sh*t, don't let them in!
The damage:
1. Shoe scuff in plush part of door panel.
2. 1" pen mark in plush part of door panel.
3. Small gash in leather seat from shoe.
4. Raw meat juice on carpet.
Today was not a good day!
