Default Stock CD Changer is missing, can it be replaced with aftermarket stuff?

Hi all, my stock CD changer is missing from my 97 A8, I was wondering if I can install aftermarket brand (JVC for example), will it fit without modifications and will it work with stock wiring harness?

Default they used Alpine changers in the 97 A8. Look up a phone number for PAC, call them and ask them if ..

.. the make a conversion harness for the A8 to alpine changer.

The changer plug is the same, but I know they swap around pins which will either cause something to blow, or it will not work. Which is why you would need a conversion harness.

BTW, it is a old alpine M bus changer, NOT an Ai net one.

I could buy original one but the dealer asked something like $1000 for it!

Dan, are you saying they could make an adapter for RCA inputs for our 97's?

I can not think of why it would be impossible.

Default It is all about the pin configuration. I put many alpine changers in Audis, and Panasonics in VWs...

... in my car audio days.

Default I've took all of them apart to compare the boards, they all looked different from my 97' changer.

I am that kind of guy. I take apart things even if they work perfect just to see why.
