Default I have as well. 97 A8s are alpine changers, no doubt about it.

Look at the magazines. If they are different, it is a changer from another year, or audi. Not the A8.

Default Look on PACs site I listed, they will tell you which changer is used per car.

I used to sell PAC parts for the people that brought cars to me, and wanted to put a changer in other than the $800 OEM one.

Car companies, make deals with car audio companies. When it comes to changers, the OEM ones would have wiring changed to try and stop the aftermarket from throwing in the $300 changers that is the same model as the OEM $800 ones.

So companies like PAC made the conversion plugs for $50-100 to make the aftermarket work with the OEM head unit saving the customers a bunch of cash.
