Subaru Legacy Gt

Re: Subaru Legacy GT
Haven't driven one yet, but I have been behind the wheel of the 2005 GT (beginning of the current body style). Not as roomy or as nice inside as an 8, but actually a very nice car. Compared against a Camry or Accord, it gets my vote hands down. Good brakes, sharp handling and, for what it is, you don't see them everywhere.

Subies are generally VERY reliable
I still have a '90 Legacy GT (my kid has it at college) that I bought new. Very little has ever gone wrong with it and it's a fantastic winter car. AWD, kiler heat, and I can honestly say the car has never failed to start in almost 19 years. Wish my A8 was even half as relaible.

Did about 3500 miles in my son's GT 2.5 in February

My son bought one of these earlier this year and I got to spend about 3500 miles in it (N.O. to NYC to Denver) while helping him move for a new job. The car was a blast to drive (and I'm used to cars that are "somewhat" enjoyable), while handling carrying both of us and a lot of his stuff (thank heaven for fold-down rear seats) through the February snow storms (the photo was at a gas stop between NYC and Chicago). It's not as refined as an Audi, but a lot cheaper than an S4 with great performance, good fuel economy, and an amazing list of factory-approved tuner parts.
Drove the car again when I visited him in Sept, and it's still as tight as new. Great package for less than $30k.

Like all the other Japanese brands, a copy of German engineering.
They took a Porsche boxer motor put the engine in the front, water cooled it and made it all wheel drive. It's a very nice product.
How the Japanese succed is that they always manage to improve something about their product in the process at a lower price.
I'll still drive my Audi.
