Rosstech Vagcom is not just a computer (required) and the software...it's the license (required)...won't work without it. Most who have the license have liftime support (updates, etc..) so have NO reason to sell the essential part.

what kind of laptop are you going to use? serial port or usb port? XP, Win7?

I have an OBDII serial

Check out this and dependent upon what you want to do with the car. I just use it to reset and program some stuff, nothing major.

well i am planning to keep my a8 for a while. i'm liking the car so much, im planning to buy one for my wife as well. i have changed the atf before with the ross tech but i had to burrow it. Also really want to recode the tranny. anyway it kindof a must have tool. thanks for the offer though but i am looking for a ross tech. CT A8 is selling his laptop, if i buy it thats what i will be using.

That laptop is a good deal. You will have more than just van-com.

Look around ebay, there were a few cables that were for sale recently, original ones from ross-tech, not a fake ones.
