Supercharged A8 - How many would do it at this price?

Re: compression ratio work around
Agreed. It's not all that hard to throw a new HG in while the kit is being installed. Compared to changing out pistons, or cams. I'd want the higher boost SC thats for sure. hehe.

Yea, but you altitude on your side for non detonation
I've learned a lot in the past few weeks, the principles are pretty easy so far.
I agree with you, and most likely one car would have to be test fitted and operated before any kind of kit could be offered. And from my understanding, it could be very different in CA with 91 octane gas, you being in high elevations, somebody in Texas during the summer and even running in the very cold.
I'm thinking of a few scenarios, and the only one I do is a cheap one. I don't think I would spend 6K on the whole thing, I would love to see something for $3500 by possibly using some ebay procured components (and some things are new there or rebuilt units). Otherwise it's too expensive.
If we can focus on using as many stock components as possible and then just procure the few custom pieces, the rest of the kit could be procured by the end user.
And from what I have read, expect 25-50% HP increases with a blower running at 5 to 7 PSI or so. I'm almost ready to start plugging in equations. I want to have that level of understanding before I move foward.

But here is a picture of a supercharged 5 valve 4.2
Okay, this just proves that it has been done. It looks soooo nice. Hey, there must be a design already. Sure would make things easier.
I would love to actual visit with somebody who has one.

Wouldn't changing the head gaskets be recommended?
It appears I have an oil leak from one of my head gaskets.
Regardless, a blower puts a lot of stress on the head gasket, it would probably be recommended to change out the head gaskets before doing this mod?
Or is this not required? Don't really know.
But I do know if I did it this summer, I would change both head gaskets, reduce the damn tension on my timing belt and then put the blower on.

Re: Wouldn't changing the head gaskets be recommended?
Yes, very good point. With the high compression and added boost, there will be more stress on the HG.
I am unsure of the style of HG used in the A8. Is is metal? or composite?

See, thats the thing. People try to set up meetings, and they ALWAYS fall through.
Always. People have tried to stop by their shop too. No one with any respect or standing on AW has ever seen one in person, the two I can think of were then-new UID #'s and disappeared very quickly. Mdyne and aliases have been banned from AW, Ebay, etc.

Don't want to start a war, I know everybody's veiewpoint. However, the picture is very interesting and it appears that somebody created a design already.

Re: Wouldn't changing the head gaskets be recommended?
I'd personally buy this kit and do a top-end refurb:
<img src="http://img.eautopartscatalog.com/live/A801088596.JPG">
$220 from Bimmerparts.com.
Does not come with stem seals, but those are only $0.71 each.
Oh, those HG's look like typical composite bits. I think the only Audi engine to use an all metal HG was the "triplets" AAN/ABY/ADU 2.2L 20vt's running 230/230/315hp.

I know Paul... Same thing happened with a MDyne V6 kit, pics surfaced etc, which is how I first got to "know" MDyne here on AW. This was back at least 2 years ago.
