Supercharger? Is it a pipe dream? I bought a book today

That is correct...Vortech = Turbomachinery type, builds boost like a turbo, but is more linear.
Its sort of like a pos. disp. SC in that respect, but does not give that instant torque feeling you get from a "big" displacement V8 with a Roots-type bolted to the heads. That is the whole point of a V8 anyway, isn't it? Gobs of torque everywhere? ;-)

Re: BTW, it's Paxton, not Paston. Give that man some cheese.
If you knew me, you'd realize I am not the jealous type. Never have been, never will be. Not sure how you think that putting a different engine from a different manufacturer into an Audi would bother me, especially when I've contemplated dropping a SBF 302cid into one of my Audis. I also never said that the I6 Toyota motor was bad, or shouldn't be thought highly of. Just saying that is more than one really great engine out there that is extremely capable, and that high power Supras driven on the street have some issues that I have seen first hand.
Remember, no one here is looking for big power, or big boost. Light boost pressure with an easy install is key. To me, a roots-type fits that bill to a T. I've seen and dealt with super- and turbo-charger installations in a few different marques. Some were easy, some were retarded (installing a large ATI into that 383cid 1LE for example, was retarded). I honestly think the best way to skin this cat is with a roots + manifold, new injectors (maybe), new belt (and additional idler?), and a new ECU EPROM. Doesn't get much easier than that IMO. Just simple bolt on, plug and play stuff.

Re: Dan, can you fix a stuck blow-off valve or is it better to replace it? LOL
What style is it? Any pics?
