They wrote off my A8 anyways! Does anyone have an A8 or S8 for sale?

I can't believe it, after weeks of trying to get my car back on the road, the insurance company wrote it off! And to think it was taken down by a red light running little Toyota.

That sucks... Given the A8's unique aluminum construction, it takes a proper body shop...
to get the work done right.
You might have ended up facing a whole lot of incompetence when dealing with repair.
Because of the aluminum construction, I understand that you need special tools, equipment etc. to repair it properly.
I can't quite remember where I read this, but it was something about there being only a handful (and they meant it) of shops authorized to work on the A8.
Contact BruceM if you're looking for a great car. Apparently he's the go-to guy, and also has some wicked warranties available too. The kind that actually pay out on what they promise ;-).
That's who the forum members here seem to use, and I know they like nothing but the best.
I wish you the best of luck on finding your replacement~!

^What he said.^ You may end up well ahead.
Actuaries have calculated that A8 prices drop 7% a day in bad economic times. There are still lots of cherry examples around to choose from, Bruce has a good eye and street cred here vis-a-vis both cars and warranties, and you're likely better off in the long run with one that hasn't taken a hard shot from the side that directly impacted the drive train.
If you have the heart for hard negotiations with your insurance company and a sock full of change under your bed, you might want to take a look at moving into an S8. The prices have gotten ridiculous, and they aren't easy to sell today. It's as good a buyer's market as you could dream up.
It's true of all cars to some degree, but the A8 especially rewards careful shopping. There are hard-used examples everywhere, and a few cars that are astoundingly fresh. Mine was a bona fide freeway car -- Evergreen to downtown Denver and back, five days a week for five years -- and it's been the most reliable and cheapest to maintain car I've ever owned. An A8!
I monitor the market, though not nearly as carefully as a guy like Bruce does, and I still see promising cars crop up nearly every day. I recently saw a one-owner '03 S8 come on the block in California with only 24K on the odometer.
Rent a beater and let Bruce shop for you until you find a jewel.

Get a good financial settlement and upgrade to a sweet S8 from BruceM...
You'll come out miles ahead. Don't let them low-ball you into a poor settlement. Make sure you get at least what you paid for it (didn't you just buy it?)

You can buy a U.S. one, but a) the Canadian dollar is currently in the toilet...
at 81 cents, I believe, and b) you will have to export the car, which involves jumping through paperwork hoops. Not only that you will have to pay duty because the car is made in Germany and GST (Goods and Services Tax 5% - for you Yanks). That said, you will have many more options and lower prices. Let me/us know how it goes.
