Thoughts. With body only damage, would it be necessary to use a A8 collision facility?

I am pushing for all new panels, but with the roof and quarter panel damage I am unsure what to do..

Dan, do you mean, "Can a good body shop work on aluminum panels?" If so, the answer's yes.

I have a friend who owns the best shop in my hometown. There are tons of Audis here, and he does work on A8s.

Dan McBoost 02-20-2006 10:09 AM

Good. I figured the main use of the audi a8 collision facilities was frame damage.

Also ohbw...

....I can edit that photo further to enhance it and fix any color correction. It was not done, but it was close. I was looking for your opinion on the layout.

LMK. I still have it all saved as a photoshop document.

I had my car sent just to see and check everything out...

they found everything to be ok but the tow trucks hook point which broke. They had to reweld it.

YYYYEEEESSSSSS! Please don't go to any shop, I beg you. This happened to me...

I took the A8 to the shop "recommended" by the dealer. They took 5 weeks to complete the work (door panel dent from stump). I had to take it back 4 more times. They ruined the power locks by pinching the cables, my interior is still falling apart from where they touched it, the paint is not right, the molding is not right, they welded the door with an aluminum seam welder instead of replacing the door.

All in all, after almost getting in an actual fight with the manager I gave up. They said, "well we have never worked an an A8 before, there made of aluminum, that makes it harder."

No ****, huh?

And the serive writer told me the car was not aluminum but actually 70% steel. Guess he has never been to Alcoa's web site.

Good Luck!

BTW, State Farm admitted that there are only life 12 shops in the US qualified to work on the A8. This, after they fixed my car. One is in DC though so you are in luck!

You mentioned a shop in D.C.; what is the name? Is it Collision Works in Beltsville, MD, or an another? Just curious.

Dan McBoost 02-21-2006 03:14 PM

Yep post the one you are talking about. There is one in PA too right?

JMN 02-21-2006 03:48 PM

I am sorry but I do not remember the name of it, State Farm just...

said that they would take it to the certified shop in DC. My Audi dealer in Norfolk, VA also seemed to be familiar with the idea. I can ask if you would like me to.

Again I am sorry, it was 7 months ago though.
