Not my cup of tea but I'm also the kind of guy who likes to keep his cars looking just like they came from the factory.

They look ok to me... Reasonably classy and sporty to suit the look of the A8.
Would need to see them on the car for a definative assessment!

With 40mm offset, what size tyres are you looking to run?

With ET 40 it'll give a narrowish look - it'll sit inboard a bit.

ET35, 32, or even 25 with 245's

see here - he has ET25 20x8.5 with 245's on the front... And lowered!
His is very agressive though, I have ET32 (on 19's) which sits very wide.

Once they're on, you may like the look without doing anything further.

If you want them to sit wider, you could easily go a 10mm spacer (and longer bolts).

or

If you want to take advantage of a wider tyre, judging from the S8 stock rims (also running 245's) at ET48 and our friend from the link I gave before running ET25 (again with 245's), I would say a 265 tyre would fit pretty well.
Thats a very wide tyre for a steer tyre, but it's been done!
And you won't get an accurate profile (unless they make a 265/32 x 20!)

265's will also be horribly expensive, so you might find it better to just stick with 245's and go with spacers!
