Tools for 1997 4.2 brake pad + rotor change
#11
I'm completely screwed.
Tried to do the job this afternoon. The guy who did the tyre change must've over-torqued the wheels. Took a big cheater to take down one wheel.
Then, I found out what the screws provided in the pad package are for: the outer pads have screws on them (torx). One went off; the other won't. Now there's no thread on that one.
I noticed that those screws don't have threads all the way - the pad could still be removed if the rotor is removed. Unfortunately, the screw heads for the caliper have no thread either.
I'll have to find someone who would do the job with the parts I bought - and some magic to remove the caliper. No money saved this time.

128 EUR later. Finally got the work done.
The boss told me to go grab a coffee and come back. When I went back, the two mechanics don't know how to work on the car and made no progress. Fortunately, it wasn't difficult with a drill.
They of course didn't clean anything. They also let the master cylinder overflow despite my warning just standing right next to them and pointing to the cylinder. They did suck out the extra. Took them over an hour.
Next time I'll just drive to Germany.
