Default Trans code 00011 is the bomb

A lot of you know it already, but wow... why even have an A8 with the stock NA code. The 1st time my tranny has been above 5MPH in first gear in its life. Redline in 1st...Oh yeah.

u might want to reconsider and recode to 00001. You don't want the bomb 00011 to grenade your tranny since it will run without the DSP on.

Yikes! I'll try 00001 tonight. These TCs are fragile enough.

Thanks.

Default Why would DSP ON or OFF make any difference?

All it does is adjust shift points to your most recent driving style, and I'd love to be able to disable this "feature" on my S8. Since DSP is always trying to catch up to an earlier driving style, I find the unpredictability to be an annoyance.

DSP = 200 codes

Without it, the TC locks up, correct?? I am only regurgitating what I read here. We all need to do this, with the Achilles Heel that is our tranny ;(

Default Is 00001 really safer?

I have been running 00011 for a year. So far, so good (now that I have said that, the Audi gods will be after me).

What is the consensus? Does everyone feel that 00001 is safer and easier on the tranny long-term vs. 00011?

I would rather replace my tranny than run 00012. I think we would all agree that setting makes the car no fun at all. So, if 00012 is safest, forget it!

Agree with you there about 00012/00002.

BTW, My TC on my 98 didn't seem to be locking/unlocking as much using 00011 instead of 00002, but maybe that was just becuase of the higher shift points. I have a total of 6 weeks experience with my 8, so I am very far from an authority on it.

Also, [so far], I don't know how good an algorithm the DSP is.

Default After trying all four options, 00001 is the 00001 for me. It may just be me, but...

I found that 00012 was not much different than 00002. I tried 00011 next and was pleased with the longer time in 1st, but it also seemed to make the transmission a bit herky-jerky -- kinda like a kid shifting gears up and down just because he can.

I switched to 00001 and keep the car in "3" for all non-highway driving. I go to "4" on highways and only go to "D" if I'm going to be cruising for a significant amount of time at 50+.

With 00001, "3," and a steady (but not mashed) pedal, my car will hold 1st up to around 5000 RPM, will quickly/smoothly shift gears and keep accelerating.

Default Audi ONLY uses 2 in North America. 1 In the rest of the WORLD. "Safer" is a myth. A lie.

A wive's tale. Audi only sells 2000 A8s here a year. So THE VAST MINORITY of A8s in the entire world run 2.

I've had "11" for 3 years. Smooth as Silk, BABY!

ps - I should mention that Im taking painkillers for my dental implant surgery this morning.
