TRANS CODE SURVEY: year, mileage, rebuild?, (re)code, comments

1997, 101K, rebuilt trans, 00011, not happy (going to try 00001 or go back to 00002)
00002 made the transmission feel "slippery" @ 40 mph
00012 seemed to make a slight improvement
00011 is too herky-jerky and still has "slippery" points
Going to try 00001 and if that doesn't work, I'm going back to 00002 and using "pseudo-Tip" shifting (use 3 or 4 in city and D only on highway).

1997, 125K, 00001, doing OK but slight thump and hunt- managable, though
I have settled on 00001 because with my tranny it seems to minimize the hunting and maximize the perfromance of the car. The thump is constant across all the codings (for me, anyway).

1997, 154k, 00001, rebuilt @138k, not happy w/00011
no hunting, no thumping just smooth shifting. the 00011 is just not as satisfying as the 00001 setting. smoother shifting and balance to the overall drving experience w/00001.

1997 and switched from 00011 to 00001 car runs best it ever has been now
also had the tranny rebuilt 7k ago and runs like new now. Like I stated before 00011 the car ran sluggish but now shift points are much higher and much more pep...

1997 (Nov, might be 1998 UK spec)104K original but serviced, Hunts a little at 40mph in town
unless locked into 4th, will also hunt very slightly sometimes at 30mph in 4th, otherwise smooth, no clunking/thumping, running 00011, I did recode to 00001 but it went mental and hunted all the time! so put it back

1997, 140K, coded 00011, Shifting fine. Use my custom made tiptronic frequently.
In D it likes to upshift too much. I like ryoung's "method": keep it in 4 unless cruising on the highway for longer than 5 miles or so.
