transmission coding
i've got a 97 audi a8 quattro... about 2 mo's ago i reprogrammed the transmission to the 00011 setting based on the recommendations from audipages. i have noticed some improvement in downshifting with less throttle. it does hold gear longer, almost annoyingly, say if i accelerate hard and let off before it shifts, it just kinda hangs there at high rpm waiting for input...
it still seems like that i'm accelerating against the transmission tho. it still wants to upshift too soon, even as i'm increasing throttle. it seems like its always in TCC lockup. another example, i slow/coast down as someone in front of me slows to make a turn, when they clear i reaccelerate but the trans just goes right into TCC lockup, feels as if its in too high of a gear so i have to accel harder to make it downshift. its very annoying!
i've read many stories on here about the D2 trans blowing up. i currently have 166k, but all the shifts are very smooth and precise. the only exception is if i'm coasting down from about 40-30 mph, when it drops into 3rd (i think) at 30mph while coasting it clunks and jerks a bit. from the overall good quality shifts otherwise, i believe that the trans has had to have had a rebuild/replacement in its past.
anyway, long story short (too late), is there anything else that can be done to improve the characteristics of the trans? would a fluid change help with that "fighting the trans" feeling? i could probably take a video of what i'm experiencing.
thanks in advance
