Trunk will not open at all

Key Fob makes the solenoid noise but nothing. Key does not unlock open trunk, it does lock unlock doors with turns as usual. From ski package I was able to pop the cover off the key lock area and I see the rods pulling and key working. BUT trunk will not pop or open.
What can I do next to get in my trunk?
If I break Pass tail light will I reach anything?
I I sawzaw a nice hole behind license place can i reach anything?

I'M LOST

That sucks! I'm no expert on Audi, but I would shy away from destroying anything. Have you tried squirting WD-40 into the lock and working the key in/out? My trunk lock actually only works with the key one way, so I often have to flip the key over to get it to open.

Yes thnx
I tried WD40 tried flipping key, tried pushing down on trunk while key fob and key even pulling up but nothing.

I wonder if with very long tool I can get to latch bolts from ski package rear seat area.

With a long screwdriver I pushed and pulled the U looking rod with black plastic on it. It seems very loose and flimsy. I wonder if that's the rod that opens latch at center of bottom?

Maybe I can unlatch latch with long screwdriver? Would it be possible to unscrew those 2 screws holding handle, pull carpet away and unbolt trunk from latch?

LOL going crazy

Here's another thought. Since the central locks on these are vacuum driven (located in the trunk of course), is it possible to disconnect a vac hose from any of the passenger doors and apply vacuum/pressure to back feed and unlock the trunk? I think the driver's door and fuel filler lock are on a separate circuit, so you would have to use one of the other 3 doors.

I just went out and checked mine. You are correct, the u-shaped rod/cable leads to the trunk latch located behind the center plastic cover you have pictured with the 2 screws in it. When I push the button on the trunk, the cylinder slides in and pivots the u-shaped cable. I also looked behind the center plastic cover while doing that and indeed saw the cable moving the latch. And it was super flimsy, kind of surprised Note: when I took the small center plastic cover off, I busted two small plastic tabs, but the screws seemed to hold it in ok.

Sorry for busting your tabs, but thnx a lot.
I didn't remove the 2 screws yet from the handle to hopefully get to latch area and see, no time lately.
But I do need to get in there and will somehow soon, If not wait till nephew gets older.

Thank you for testing for me.

Poped handle above Latch after fighting to get the 2 screws off.
All through the ski package opening with a long painting pole. LoL

Now have to somehow pull carpet off over Latch.
