Turbocharging revisited....

I read alot about rear mounted turbochargers and was immediatley intrested. I found a company called ststurbo who make remote mounted turbo kits for Gm cars. The bolt right on as a cat back exhaust system and run much cooler temperatures. I think this may be the solution for the A8/S8. I send them an email asking what they could do for the Audi A8 and if they had a design that would work with our cars. All we would need is a way to remap the computer.
Paul feel free to jump in here.

http://ststurbo.com/home</a

Heh, someone posted something about those thinking they were a joke, and I posted a link:)
Great idea, and works wonderfully.

our OBDII is the problem. and Im still trying to figure out how to upgrade my intake.
teh fekking air injector pump is my issue. everything else can be taken car of by new ecu fuel maps and alot of wrench time with these new products. I think the ATI procharger was the 2nd closest to solving our forced induction issues, next to this. or we could always cough up enough change for one of these

AmD Technik

Well if this kit works we would have to remove all of that anyway.
The air intake owuld be int the back of the car and only a straight pipe would lead up right into the TB with the MAF sensor in there somewhere.

The trouble with any kind of forced compression on an A8 ...
.. is the insanely high compression ratios we run, STOCK. Sure, 11:1 was used way back in the 1960s to crank out the HP but then again 105 octane pump gas with Lead was common too.
With our high compression engines, their "long pipe only" setup would not work. The gasses would still be too hot when they got to the intake.
We'd need an intercooler setup, adding some cost in there. I *guess* it could be to the rear as well .. I don't know.
Where did I read that we shouldn't go with more than 5psi boost .. hmm ..

I don't like those setups
Waaayyy too much plumbing length to be reliable. And the plumbing goes down the length of the car and back around the rear suspension parts. Oil feed and drain lines are going to be a bitch. I'd imagine an oil drain pump would have to be installed. A secondary oil pan might be needed.
If one wants to tackle all the fueling issues with boost. why not make a custom intake from the factory and mount a supercharger. That is going to be far easier on a V8 than a twin turbo. If you're only doing 5 psi that seems the best way.
