Default uh oh. it is the clutch F seal

just got the prognosis. estimate to come shortly.
i dont' suppose anyone has found a clever or cheap way around this? i could just avoid using Reverse at start up... i only have the problem when i first start the car up. after that it's all systems go.

shame on audi for putting out such a weak *** transmission in their "flagship" car.

Default I've got it at TyrolSport now

Mike there knows his stuff. he did the major service, the flange seal replacement and the tranny fluid change. but even he said, "it's a major, multi-thousand dollar job. all to replace a $3 part."

Hi I've used Mike at tyrolsport from time to time over the years. I hear he moved from whitestone to ridgwwood. Although he does exceptional work, I would at least think about bringing your reman tranny work to a specialist. That's no disrespect to mike. My personal experience with selex in inwood, who did my tranny work has been great. I lost the A drum and needed a complete reman job. Knock on wood my tranny is 99.99% perfect. The price, service AND warrany were what I expected.

Default Another way to corroborate it being the clutch F seal or its controls

... is to recode to allow Tip selection of first (possible starting in model year 2000 and described at www.audipages.com), accelerate on a flat road or downhill in Tip 1st then take your foot off the gas. If clutch F is working, you have engine braking in first. If not, the TCM sees something wrong with first gear and shifts to second.
