Default Update on my deer A8....

Final tally- $8500. That's one expensive piece of venison! The insurance company is going to pay to fix it and not total it, thank goodness. All new parts (no used parts) as well, which for a 8 year old car the insurance company doesn't have to do. It will take at least another week and a half to get her back, but I'll post photos then. I can't wait!

Default What's the standard on used vs. old parts on older vehicles? I mean...

..as long as your car hasn't been in a previous accident to have required those same parts replaced before, they're still OEM, so how could they justify paying only for used? Is there a "statute of limitations" on OEM parts that auto insurances can claim?

Default A friend of mine is part owner of a body shop, and he says that for....

cars above a certain age (I think he said 5 years) the insurance companies don't have to use new parts for claims repairs. The logic is that the parts on the car were old, so a fair replacement would be using similar (used)parts.

Default I was thinking about it, but with the gravel they "sand" the roads with.....

around here, the paint on the lowers would get beat up really badly in just 1 winter. I'll have them re-apply whatever black coating they come stock with. I'm also getting a clear bra installed to prevent rock chips on the new front end.
