I finally upgraded my 97 to an O1 short wheelbase Silver with black interior. I bought the car at Laurel Audi and had it certified with only 50k miles. It's funny how these off lease vehicles are run right down within 100 miles of the turn in number.

Someone from Park Ridge upgraded to an 04 A8. They gave me a good price that was out the door right at $25k with taxes tags and license and certified. I was very pleased with the deal and made it happen the last day of the month.

It is much smoother than the 97 and actually feels like a new car. I always look and still decided the A8 was the best value in it's class. 2nd Choice was an 01 740 with the Sport Package but the body style looks more dated than the A8. 3rd Choice was an 01 S430 but I did not wish to spend $35k and it will drop big time next year when the new body style comes out. The LS 430 was in mid 30s as well and just does not excite me, only for comparison shopping but dont see myself driving a TOYOTA. The 02 Q45 were priced as low as 22k and a good value but the interior smelled like a typical Japanese car (not that there is anything wrong with that.....)

I got a good deal so pretty much blew out the 97 A8 with 110k miles. The round number on trade was $5k. This particular deal would have netted me less than $5k and it was just easier to go in and negotiate on the 01. I sold it on my own and got $6k in one weekend. I could have played car salesman for a month or two to get $7k but it's not worth the time, frustration, and mind games.

One guy made me an offer on Saturday only to be a no call no show for our appointment at the bank on Monday morning. Still, he was one of those guys that wanted the title and wanted to give me all 100 bills. I insisted on meeting at the bank and them the bank will release the title. I sold my Mercedes for $28k last year and had the same experience with one guy wanting to show up with cash and get the title and my car..... Same thing, a no call no show when I insisted on him dealing with the bank. There are too many shady people that answer car ads in the paper. I just wanted to be done with it and sold it to the person I liked and appreciated the car the most, not the person that gave me the higher price and was just buying an Audi. This guy knows the A8 and will appreciate my car and have it for many years.

I told Tony, I will definatly take the newer car to the track. My car had over 90k miles on it by the time I knew about these track events.

This 01 feels like a new car and I dont think taking it around the track will cause any issues.
