recoded mine to sport mode last week and no it will not hunt! but i still get the thump...

i am convinced it is either the valve body or a software/sensor issue. sooner or later someone is gonna figure this out and have a lot of free dinners coming from all of us here on audi world!

Thanks! I'll look at the vacuum lines. I just had my manifold off to change out my gaskets and hoses

I didnt notice any deteriation, but you never know. I have the same problem as the other guy but mine occurs between 1500-2800 rpm. By looking at this info and the video I posted earlier, does this look like the same "hunting" issue you guys have? Or is the hunting more about the tranny going in and out of gear?

Transmission temperatures

With two VAG-COM logs of Transmission Group 7 Block 1 ATF temperature, It is shown that the Torque converter control does not start operation until 31-37 degrees ATF temp. is reached.

With only short distance driving, I have yet to see ATF temperatures over 53 degrees.

This seems low.

which code?

Which recode value have you selected?
For what year, A8? S8? ,

And how do you like the transmission characteristics now?

I have coded 00001 And the service book has only
that and 00002 available. The audipages suggest two other possible codes in 00011 and 00012.
But. I have not tried those codings.

Re: Transmission temperatures

According to TSB 97-08 (True it's for a different transmission) Normal ATF temperature is 110C to 120C.

That is a large difference from what I see.

Re: which code?

i programmed mine to 00012 and it completely eliminated my hunting. howver the thump when i let off the gas on the highway is still there sometimes. it does have a noticeably firmer shift which isnt too harsh but not quite as smooth as before. i dont drive my car that hard so i guess its just ok. at least the hunting is gone though!!
