Default Vibration in rear

I have twice balanced my back tires and checked for bad belts or bent wheels. Still, I have a vibration in MY rear , which means its coming from the rear of the car, at 40MPH and up. Anyone had this? I can't think of anything else back there that could cause a vibration.

Default What kind of vibration?

I know, sounds like a strange question. But is it "cyclic vibration" or more shuddering? Does it seem to come from one side or the other?

Does it worsen when you apply the brakes/accelerate?

How many miles on the car? Worn controlarm- and subframe-bushings have a similair effect.

Default How about a bent axle shaft or worn cv joint?

I'm asking the pros here - it's just a thought.

Any way to run car with wheels off the ground? Will unplugging the ABS brain allow it?
