Default They're back!

We got our cars back from the shop. Both are doing fine, and all the damage is fixed (courtesy of the other guy's insurance!)

I'll post pics later on showing the V1 hardwire in the S8, although I'm still considering mounting the remote display somewhere different.

Mister, this sounds like it could be a happy ending from a not-so-happy start! Good for you. Say, Im looking at a 2001 S8 in black/black with 46,000 miles on the clock. My dealer wants $45,000 and I was wondering if that is in the ballpark. Thanks and best wishes.

Default That sounds good, especially if it's got the Audi extended warranty.

It's about 20k more miles than mine had, and about $8k less than I paid. Mine came with a brand new Phatbox and the 100k mile extended warranty.

The S8 is now even better than it was before the incident, because my dealer was extra nice when we bought the car and ordered all new aluminum trim, which all got installed while the car was in the shop for repairs.

Everything works great, and we're really glad to have our cars back!

I think his trim was discolored/tarnished or something.

Default Sorry...I was out for the weekend

The aluminum trim I was referring to is the shiny stuff around the windows, above the bumper, and along the side (the car's 'belt-line').

Apparently, the previous owner did something like put chrome-cleaner on it, or somesuch thing, and it was all tarnished and pitted (uncleanable), so the dealer decided to replace it all under warranty.

Default Did they replace it under Audi Assured or under the new car Audi warranty?

This is of great interest to me, I've got this going with Audi right now.

You'd think they could figure out a way to clean the stuff up.

Default Good question...I'll ask them

The sales manager sugsaid he'd replace it when I bought the car. He said his detailing people tried and tried to clean it, but no dice. So after we picked it up, I went to the service dept. and told them that he said he'd replace the trim under warranty...but it might have been part of the Audi Assured deal, where the car has to be 'like new' when you buy it.

Like I said, I'll ask them whether it was the Audi Assured or the Warranty that replaced the trim.
